Pedestrian/Bike Paths
Highland North is a walkable neighborhood. What makes it walkable? For starters, the planned 1 mile of trails. Along with the trails, our 5 foot wide front sidewalks have details that one might not think about such as being placed away from the curb to allow a place for snow to be pushed while still allowing the sidewalks to be cleared. They are also of first consideration when it comes to the driveways, not sloping uncomfortably at the drives. Also, while walking or biking, the walks are flanked by natural grasses, giving a touch of nature and natural beauty. The trails and sidewalks are meant to not only be used in the daylight hours but also in the darker parts of the day. To accommodate the darker hours, Highland North will have more street lights than is standard, the house lights are on astronomical timers that turn on at dusk and off at dawn and patio light hanging across portions of the trail. There will be benches and dog stations placed along the trails to provide a place to rest and a place for the animals in our lives to do what animals do.
